When I think of taxidermy heads as wall decoration, I think of a hunting lodge or the animal room from the second Ace Ventura movie. (Ace Ventura quote: "This is a lovely room of death".) So you can imaging my surprise when I started seeing mounted heads pop up all over the place in stores catering to young, apartment-living twentysomethings.
The catch? They're all fake. And not fake in the I'm-trying-to-look-like-the-real-thing fake. They're made using cleaver materials and take inventive forms that reference the hunting trophy but make a clear point that no killing of animals took place to create these forms.
Below I've attached some images of my favorites that even Ace Ventura would smile about.
